Supply Chain Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Is there a UC Health “Approved Vendor List”?

A: NO. There is not a vendor list. UC Health enters into contracts for a large percent of their goods and services. Most of these contracts are written through our Group Purchasing Organization (GPO), Broadlane. When contracts are due for renewal, UC Health and Broadlane will entertain new vendors to knock out the incumbent based upon providing the Best Value.

Q: What is the Best Value?

A: UC Health relies upon four factors to determine this. It is the combination of the best Quality, Safety and Service at the most affordable Price.

Q: Does UC Health create set-asides where they have ear-marked certain dollars for minority and women-owned businesses?

A: NO. UC Health has a very robust Supplier Diversity program. We create opportunities for businesses to compete and win contracts. This has created substantial savings over the past 5 years and over $93 million has been spent using diverse companies.

However, the Best Value has won the contract award each and every time. We have never made a purchasing decision based upon diversity standing. We have overturned several incumbent “historical” vendors by providing a better value.
