Acquisition demonstrates health system’s increasing commitment to women’s health in the region
CINCINNATI—Oct. 31, 2012—UC Health announced today its purchase of Lisa Larkin, MD & Associates, a Madisonville internal medicine and gynecology practice specializing in women’s health issues, specifically mid-life women’s health and menopause.
“We are thrilled to have Dr. Larkin and her associates join UC Health,” said Myles Pensak, MD, CEO of University of Cincinnati Physicians, UC Health’s physicians group. “Acquiring Dr. Larkin’s practice was a natural next step to increase our commitment to women’s health care in the region.”
Dr. Larkin was named director of the new UC Health Women’s Center at West Chester this past summer. She is a nationally recognized expert in the field of perimenopause, menopause transition and female sexual issues.
“The West Chester campus of UC Health is privileged to have Dr. Larkin,” said Kevin Joseph, MD, president and CEO of West Chester Hospital. “This is a rapidly growing region, and patients will be glad we have on staff a physician with Dr. Larkin’s skill sets.”
The women’s center is currently under development and is slated to open in late spring 2013 with doctors from Dr. Larkin’s practice and others from University of Cincinnati of Physicians. Designed to be a patient-centered medical home, it will provide comprehensive, evidence-based, multispecialty medical care for women under one roof. Located on the West Chester Hospital campus, the center will emphasize a team-based approach, led by primary care physicians who partner with a patient and help direct her medical care throughout her life time.

The vision for the center is to offer the complete spectrum of care for women — from wellness and prevention to diagnosis and treatment — as well as clinical research and education programs for health professionals and the community.
Lisa Larkin, MD, & Associates also includes board-certified internal medicine physicians Maria Wright, MD, NCMP, and Susan Stegman, MD, NCMP; board-certified OB GYN Sunbal Javaid, MD, NCMP; Certified Nurse Practitioner Anna Fox, and Certified Physician Assistant Sondra Lyness. All of the providers will continue to provide care for men and women at the Red Bank Road office — now a satellite location for the UC Health Women’s Center.
