UC Health and Northwest Local School District Agree to Sponsorship Deal

UC Health to be official health care provider of
Colerain High School and Northwest High School

CINCINNATI—Jan. 3, 2013—UC Health announced today a new 10-year partnership with Colerain High School and Northwest High School, becoming the official health care provider of the Northwest Local School District. The partnership includes physician coverage for athletes at both schools.

“We are thrilled to have Colerain High School and Northwest High School as our newest partner high schools,” said Angelo Colosimo, MD, director of UC Health Sports Medicine and assistant professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. “Both are great schools with great athletic history, and we’re committed to making them even better in the future with our care on and off the field.”

Part of the sponsorship deal includes renaming Colerain’s football field, which will now be known as UC Health Field at Cardinal Stadium.

“We’re excited to partner with UC Health,” said David Denny, president of the Northwest Local District board of education. “Its expertise and academic ties to the UC College of Medicine make it the obvious choice. UC Health’s physicians treat the Bearcats and professional athletes on a daily basis, so we know our athletes are in great hands.”

“We’re committed to community outreach and partnerships of this nature,” said W. Brian Gibler, MD, president and CEO of University of Cincinnati Medical Center and senior vice president, UC Health. “It’s mutually beneficial for the schools, the parents, the athletes and UC Health.”

“We are happy that many of the people currently working with our athletes will be able to continue to do so as we make this a smooth transition,” said Rick Glatfelter, superintendent of the Northwest Local school district. “We are also grateful that these funds will help our athletic departments with future special projects.”

UC Health Sports Medicine is the official health care provider of University of Cincinnati athletics and the more than 400 Bearcat athletes, the Florence Freedom, the Cincinnati Roller Girls and 21 high schools throughout Greater Cincinnati. Recognized by Best Doctors in America and Top Doctors in Cincinnati, our physicians are fellowship trained and board certified in a variety of orthopaedic specialties with office locations in Clifton, Montgomery, West Chester, Wilmington and Florence, Ky.
