PGY1 Residency

The PGY1 residency at UC Health-University Hosptial, located in the Greater Cincinnati area, is a twelve-month, structured training program designed to develop skills and competence in providing pharmaceutical care. The specific program may vary in structure and area of emphasis based on the resident’s entering level of knowledge, skills and interests. Elective rotations allow the resident to further pursue interests related to individual career objectives. The PGY1 residency at UC Health-University of Cincinnati Medical Center is accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists.

Ambulatory Care

UC Health University of Cincinnati Medical Center offers a specialized residency in Ambulatory Care pharmacy. This ASHP accredited residency focuses on the provision of pharmaceutical care to a diverse patient population in a variety of different ambulatory settings including: General Internal Medicine Clinics, private physician office settings, Center for Emergency Care, Pharmacist-Managed Anticoagulation Clinics, Infectious Disease Clinic, Smoking Cessation and Congestive Heart Failure Clinics.

Internal Medicine

The ASHP-Accreditation pending (PGY2) Internal Medicine Pharmacy Residency focuses on the development of specialized competence in applying evidence-based pharmacotherapy to acutely ill patients.  The residency provides experience in three major areas:  advanced acute care clinical practice, clinical and didactic teaching activities, and clinical research.

The ASHP-accredited residency in Oncology Pharmacy focuses on the development of competence in applying pharmacologic intervention in cancer patients. This is a specialized residency with experiences in four major areas: advanced oncology clinical practice rotations, oncology pharmacy drug distribution services, teaching activities and clinical research. Comprehensive oncology pharmacy services are stressed, providing rotational experiences in medical oncology, and oncology ambulatory care, hematology.
