4th Annual Bearcat Dash & Bash

Prepare for this year’s fourth annual University of Cincinnati Bearcats Dash & Bash with these four quick tips for running injury prevention:

-Set your goal. Whether it’s to lose weight or improve your heart health, talk to your provider who can help determine a safe pace and distance to prevent overexertion which can result in injury.
-Get a physical. Before any race, meet with your provider to identify any health problems that may hamper your running performance and increase your chance of injury.
-Warm up and cool down. Focus on stretching and/or gently moving muscles that move your ankles and leg joints at least five minutes before and after your run.
-Shoes matter. Work with an athletic store associate to find a shoe that fits your foot type.
