Norberto Andaluz, neurosurgeon at the University of Cincinnati Gardner Neuroscience Institute, welcomes the announcement of the 266th pope with pride. Andaluz, who was raised Catholic and lived in Argentina until he was 30, knew well of Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio of Buenos Aries. Living in a city less than 200 miles away, Andaluz knew the now-pope as a “social conscience.”
