After a life-changing accident 13 years ago Sharon Everett’s dream is to be able to hear normally again. Her story turns a tragedy into a triumph because she wants to use her cochlear implant, a device that stimulates the cochlear nerve to help patients hear, to better listen to others as she volunteers for burn victims. Dr. Ravi Samy, an otolaryngologist at the University of Cincinnati Gardner Neuroscience Institute, implanted the device this week and will turn it on later this month.
