At UC Health, our experts are working every day to bring cutting-edge treatments and therapies to our community, including oral immunotherapy (OIT) for allergy sufferers.

The UC Health Allergy and Sinus program combines clinical expertise with the latest therapies, such as OIT drops that train your body’s immune system to fight off environmental allergies.

The team, led by Alfred M. Sassler, DO, has decades of experience treating environmental allergies and providing relief. UC Health ear, nose and throat (ENT) physicians and surgeons are specialty-trained in all aspects of the nose and sinuses.

“Allergy treatment begins with finding out what you’re sensitive to, limiting your exposure to that thing and then using easy-to-tolerate treatments to limit the symptoms,” Dr. Sassler said. “If those treatments don’t work, immunotherapy can often help provide relief.”

At UC Health, allergy patients can receive full skin tests to diagnose both the allergy and the severity of the allergy simultaneously, allowing our multidisciplinary care teams to find the right treatment sooner.

“We do research. We educate and train the next generation of physicians,” Dr. Sassler said. “Why not go to the place with the best people to get your evaluation and treatment?”

When conventional allergy treatments aren’t working, turn to the experts at UC Health— where in science lives hope.
