About Us

In partnership with UC Health, the UC Cancer Institute Genitourinary Cancer Center specializes in urologic cancers including cancers of the bladder, kidney, prostate, testicles and adrenal glands. If you have been diagnosed with urologic cancer, you may feel overwhelmed and wonder where to turn. The University of Cincinnati Cancer Institute’s Genitourinary (urologic) Cancer Center is here to help you through it all.

Although we have the ability to treat every patient with urologic cancer, we focus many of our efforts on the treatment of those with complex and advanced disease that cannot be treated elsewhere in the region.

Why Choose UC Heath

Our Genitourinary Cancer Center is the where you’ll find:

  • The newest urologic cancer advancements in screening methods, treatments and surgical techniques in the region.
  • Physicians and surgeons across multiple specialties who offer groundbreaking treatment options.
  • Techniques and procedures for prostate and kidney cancers that are not readily available elsewhere in the region.
  • The only program in Greater Cincinnati with the multidisciplinary team and specialized intensive care units capable of providing high-dose interleukin-2 immunotherapy for metastatic kidney cancer – the only treatment associated with “cure” in this disease.
  • We also offer partial laparoscopic kidney-sparing cancer surgery.
  • One of the few health care systems in the United States and the first in Ohio to offer robot-assisted prostate cancer surgery without the need for a postoperative urethral catheter.
  • The only health system in the region to use MRI/ultrasound fusion technology, which helps diagnose and treat prostate cancer patients more effectively. We have more experience with this imaging modality and have evaluated all patients within the Cincinnati metropolitan area and many patients from other regions of the eastern United States.
  • Our minimally invasive surgical techniques lead to faster recovery times with less pain throughout the treatment process.
  • Collaboration between physicians and surgeons from multiple specialties to ensure comprehensive, coordinated care.
  • All of our genitourinary cancer specialists also serve as faculty members at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. Affiliation with an academic medical center gives us access to the latest technological procedures and clinical trial medications for our patients.
