About Us

The UC Cancer Institute Lung Cancer Center includes a large and diversified team of fellowship-trained experts who primarily focus on lung cancer. Patients can be confident in our knowledge and experience to accurately diagnosis and effectively treat their lung cancer.

Our multidisciplinary team includes:

  • Thoracic surgeons and chest surgery anesthesiologists who are leading the way in advanced minimally invasive surgical techniques. Studies show that lung cancer surgery performed by a dedicated thoracic surgeon leads to a reduced complication rate and better survival for patients.
  • Medical oncologists with expertise in lung cancer chemotherapy and newer targeted agents
  • Radiation oncologists using the latest equipment and techniques such as stereotactic body radiation therapy and proton therapy
  • Chest radiologists with expertise in lung cancer screening and advanced imaging
  • Pulmonary disease specialists dedicated to lung cancer screening, diagnosis and evaluation
  • Fellowship-trained interventional pulmonologists offering the latest diagnostic techniques
  • Pulmonary pathologists with expertise in the diagnosis and staging of lung cancer
  • Nurse practitioners specializing in lung cancer
  • A nurse navigator who helps guide patients through treatment
  • A lung cancer social worker
  • A nutritionist who focuses on cancer patients

Our team meets weekly to discuss all aspects of our patients’ care and to develop a personalized treatment approach. We work with our patients to determine the most effective treatment options and utilize pain and symptom management services to maximize comfort and minimize side effects.

In addition, UC Health is one of only a handful of academic health systems across the country to have a Phase I clinical trials program that can offer the latest cancer therapies, and it remains the only program in the region with a team of experts focused solely on treating and studying all stages of lung cancer.
