UC Health Baby Café Open for Mothers at Ambrose Health Center

Mar. 15, 2023

CINCINNATI - UC Health Partners with the Ambrose H. Clement Health Center to Provide Breastfeeding Support Group

Starting Thursday, April 20, 2023, the UC Health Baby Café will offer an additional location for Cincinnati mothers.

The UC Health Baby Café is a free breastfeeding support and encouragement group. With existing locations and times located in West Chester and Hamilton, the Baby Café provides a fun and relaxed environment for mothers to meet and socialize with other mothers and learn more about a variety of educational topics.

“The U.S. has the highest maternal mortality rate of any industrialized country, and it is almost three times higher for Black Americans. Ongoing support can change outcomes for both mothers and babies,” Julie Bell, Clinical Nurse Manager at University of Cincinnati Medical Center, stated. “Being a mother can be a challenging time in life. Baby Café provides a safe space, free of charge, where we can walk beside our families, provide encouragement and become a part of their village. We welcome breastfeeding parents, pumping-exclusive parents, working parents and stay-at-home parents.”

The group also provides free access to professional lactation consultants for mothers to express concerns and ask questions and assistance with latching, pumping and increasing or maintaining breast milk supply.

The new Baby Café location will be open every Thursday from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. in the Ambrose H. Clement Health Center’s Community Room, 3559 Reading Road, Suite 101, Cincinnati, Ohio, 45229.

The UC Health Baby Café is also hosted at West Chester Hospital every Wednesday and at the Primary Health Solutions Journey Wellness Center, and in Hamilton every Monday from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. For more information visit UC Health’s website.

The public is encouraged to call 513-584-5239 for more information. All mothers and children are welcome, and strollers are permitted.

UC Medical Center is the first and only Level IV maternity hospital in Greater Cincinnati, and one of just seven Level IV maternity hospitals in Ohio.
