Hai Salfity, MD,MPH

Hai Salfity, MD, specializes in thoracic surgery, encompassing a wide depth of practices from benign and malignant diseases of the lung, esophagus, mediastinum and airway. She has expertise in complex cancer resections, minimally invasive thoracic surgery and advanced endoscopic therapy for foregut disorders. She completed her surgical training at Indiana University in Indianapolis, Indiana, and her thoracic surgical fellowship at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina.

Dr. Salfity values the connections she makes with her patients and their families. She believes that in order to truly help patients, healthcare providers must first make genuine connections with them. Once empathy and trust have been established, together, they can move forward to develop an individualized treatment plan.

Her current research topics are global and population health, surgical oncology and esophageal cancer. She plans to focus on expanding screening guidelines and methods to all patient populations, as well as making them more applicable, accessible and affordable to every patient.

Outside of work, Dr. Salfity enjoys traveling, meeting new people and exploring different cultures with her family.
