diabetes seminarDiabetes is a chronic disease that affects nearly 26 million Americans, or 8.3 percent of the U.S. population. Of these, 7 million do not know they have the disease. It’s important to know the risk factors including age, weight, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and family history that can impact the likelihood of being diagnosed.

Learn more about diabetes’ risk factors as well as how to properly manage the disease at West Chester Hospital’s free community seminars focused on “Demystifying Diabetes” on Wednesday, July 24 or Saturday, July 27.

The seminars will feature a physician specialist, a registered dietitian and a pharmacist who will discuss the types of diabetes, why the body becomes resistant to insulin, the impact diabetes has on the organs and systems, and how diabetes is best managed long-term.

WHEN: Saturday, July 27, 9 to 10:30 a.m.
WHERE:  West Chester Hospital, Plaza Conference Room (Level A), 7700 University Drive, West Chester, Ohio 45069
