Please join us for the 2nd Annual Diabetes Day on November 8, 2013. This year’s event is for internists, family physicians, endocrinologists, and residents in training involved in the care and treatment of patients with diabetes as well as basic scientists interested in obesity and diabetes research.

Diabetes is a topic with decreased appreciation for and awareness of the overall needs of treatment and patient adherence to prescribed regimens. The course features state-of-the-art presentations by internationally recognized leaders in the field and panel discussions to provide interaction between the speakers and the participants.

At the conclusion of this program, registrants will be able to:

  • Discuss the syndrome of hypoglycemia–associated autonomic failure and the approach to reversal of hypoglycemia unawareness
  • Describe clinical recognition and differentiation of types of diabetes
  • Explain the initiation of insulin therapy and appropriate titration
  • Analyze new and emerging pharmacologic therapies for type 2 diabetes
  • Review clinical interventions and pharrmalogical therapies to improve A1c
  • Provide tips and tools to increase clinical and patient success with diabetes therapies
  • Discuss referral of the diabetic patient for bariatric surgery and post-operative management of patients
  • Assess the recommendations for the management of diabetes in special populations
  • Explain the management of diabetes before, during and after pregnancy

The conference will be held at the UC Metabolic Diseases Institute, located on the UC Reading Campus (2180 East Galbraith Road, Cincinnati, OH 45237). Parking is free.
