Did you know that every 15 seconds, an older adult is seen in a hospital emergency room for  a fall-related injury?

Older adult falls are the leading cause of death for Ohioans over age 65 and the number one cause of fatal and non-fatal injuries.

West Chester Hospital is offering a “Fall Prevention Awareness Day” on Tuesday, Sept. 23, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event is free and open to the public, and will take place on level A of the hospital adjacent to the cafeteria.

The event will feature:

  • fall prevention information from the West Chester Hospital trauma services team;
  • balance screenings from ear, nose and throat specialists;
  • balance and exercise information from physical therapists and occupational therapists;
  • Tai Chi information from integrative medicine specialists;
  • injury prevention tips from the West Chester Township fire and ems squad.
