Fat Transfer

The youthful face is full and round. As we age, volume is lost throughout the face, in particular from around the eyes and cheek bones. Autologous fat transfer is modern technique that has benefited from recent advances in fat preparation protocols. This procedure borrows excess fat from the thigh or abdomen. This fat is then centrifuged and decanted to specifically isolate fat cells. The isolated fat cells are then placed in the areas of facial volume loss with an ultra-thin cannula. Although not all of the transplanted fat survives, the fat remaining at one year can be permanent. This procedure may be performed alone, or in conjunction with other rejuvenation procedures such as face lift and blepharopalsty.
