True Love Prevails in Sickness and in Health

Sixty years ago, Neil and Eva Hershner promised to have and to hold from that day forward.

Neil unexpectedly became a patient at West Chester Hospital the week of their 60th wedding anniversary.

While speaking with his son, Neil Jr., he mentioned that he would love to renew his vows to the love of his life. Right then and there, Neil Jr. knew what he had to do. His initial planning started with Jeff Perkins, manager of spiritual care at West Chester Hospital, and the rest is history.

Holding a sign stating “Will you marry me again?,” Neil surprised Eva exactly 60 years later, and they renewed their vows to one another in front of family and friends in Neil’s hospital room. Without a dry eye in the room, the couple tearfully expressed their love and commitment to each other once again.
