Dr. Juan Torres-Reveron is a board-certified neurosurgeon who provides the highest level of complex care to patients suffering from disorders of the brain, nerves and spine. He specializes in caring for patients with movement disorders including Parkinson’s disease and essential tremor as well as surgical treatment of intractable epilepsy. He also specializes in the surgical treatment of pain and spasticity.
Dr. Torres-Reveron treats spinal conditions, nerve pain, trigeminal and occipital neuralgia. He specializes in deep brain stimulation, epilepsy surgery and the surgical placement of stimulators and intrathecal pumps.
Dr. Torres-Reveron completed his neurosurgery training at Yale University, followed by a fellowship in epilepsy surgery with Dennis Spencer, MD, who is considered one of the pioneers of modern epilepsy surgery. He also speaks fluent Spanish.
He has contributed to numerous publications and abstracts including chapters in Youman’s and Winn Neurological Surgery and The Evidence for Neurosurgery; as well as scientific publications in the Journal of Neurooncology, Journal of Neuroscience and PLOS One.
Dr. Torres-Reveron has a PhD in Neurobiology with an interest in developmental processes and physiology of the nervous system. He has been awarded several honors which include the Yale Neurosurgery Research Symposium award. He also had independent NIH sponsored research funding throughout his studies.
He belongs to multiple professional organizations including the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, American Association of Neurological Surgeons, and American Medical Association. He is an active member of the Society for Neuroscience, and the American Epilepsy Society.
