Niralee Patel, MD, specializes in nephrology, kidney and pancreas transplant and internal medicine. She chose to focus her career in these areas because those with kidney disease who need transplants are some of the most complex patients in the hospital and community. She wanted to work on improving patients’ lives from the kidney disease burden and helping them to receive a kidney transplant.
Of her numerous studies, some of her most notable are: Medical Education During the COVID-19 Pandemic: Learning From A Distance, COVID-19–Associated Acute Kidney Injury: A Case Series and Rate of Correction of Hypernatremia and Health Outcomes in Critically Ill Patients.
In 2019, Dr. Patel was the New York Society of Nephrology first place winner for clinical research.
Currently, she is working on research in medical education, working with medical students, residents and fellows.
A fun fact about Dr. Patel is that she enjoys baking macaroons.
