Department
Neurosurgery
UC Health Affiliations
Norberto Andaluz, MD, returned to UC Health Neurosurgery from Mayfield Brain & Spine and the University of Louisville.
He specializes in a wide range of neurosurgical conditions and diseases of the brain, and minimally invasive cranial surgery, skull base surgery, cerebrovascular diseases and brain tumors including pituitary tumors and acoustic neuromas.
Dr. Andaluz decided to focus his career in these specific areas in an effort to develop ways to provide better results in the treatment of the most complex conditions treated by neurosurgeons. Thus, patients would undergo a shorter recovery time and have better functional outcomes.
The majority of his medical education and training was completed in Argentina, prior to completing two fellowships at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine focused on general neurosurgery and cerebrovascular surgery, followed by an intensive mini-fellowship in endoscopic endonasal skull base neurosurgery in Italy.
He has co-authored more than 100 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters focused on anatomical research on safer, minimally invasive surgical approaches to access difficult areas of the brain.
Dr. Andaluz frequently lectures at national and international neurosurgical training courses and has received numerous awards for his research on skull base surgical anatomy.
In his new role, he will serve as director of skull base surgery and professor in the Department of Neurosurgery at the UC College of Medicine, and will continue focusing his research on skull base surgical anatomy, minimally invasive brain surgery and patient outcomes.
Dr. Andaluz is an outdoors enthusiast and avid reader. As a young man, he enjoyed summers climbing the Patagonian Andes in his birthplace of Argentina. Additionally, he played soccer competitively and remains a passionate fan.
Today, his time is devoted to caring for his patients, wife and four wonderful children.
