Peyman Shirani, MD, is an interventional neurosurgery/vascular neurologist, who specializes in the treatment of arteriovenous malformation (AVM), stroke, brain aneurysm, arteriovenous fistula, carotid stenosis, ringing in the ear, carotid artery disease, nose bleeding (epistaxis), tumor embolization and occlusive vascular disease. He is a member of the comprehensive stroke center within the University Of Cincinnati (UC) Gardner Neuroscience Institute and is an assistant professor of neurology and neurosurgery at the UC College of Medicine. He joined UC Health in 2017.
Dr. Shirani obtained his medical degree at Isfahan University of Medical Sciences (IUMS). He completed his residency at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas and his first fellowship in vascular neurology (stroke) at University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). After his first fellowship, he was working as an assistant professor of neurology at State University of New York at Buffalo and Saint Louis University for three years. Then, he found his interest in interventional neuroradiology and completed his second fellowship training at New York University under the direction of Dr. Peter K. Nelson.
