Free Colon Health Seminars Hosted by West Chester Hospital March 27 and 30

West Chester, OH—March 6, 2013— Every year, more than 140,000 Americans are diagnosed with colorectal cancer and over 50,000 people die from it. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) states that colorectal cancer is now the second leading cause of death from disease affecting both men and women in the United States.

In honor of National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, West Chester Hospital will present free seminars on Wednesday, March 27 and Saturday, March 30, featuring the region’s leading physician specialists, who will discuss colorectal health and colon cancer.

Seminar topics will include: how the colon works, how diet and digestion affect the colon as well as a variety of chronic non-cancerous conditions. Topics related to cancer to be discussed include screening and early detection, testing and diagnosis, and advanced treatments available. Physician presenters will answer questions such as: How does family history and lifestyle impact the likelihood of developing colon cancer? What causes cancer of the colon? What are the latest surgical and non-surgical treatments available for diseases of the colon?
