Liska Appointed UC Medical Center President and CEO

Will also have pivotal system-wide leadership role

CINCINNATI, May 8, 2013 — Jim Kingsbury, President & CEO of UC Health, today announced the appointment of Lee Ann Liska as President & CEO of the University of Cincinnati Medical Center and Senior Vice President, UC Health.  “Lee Ann is a magnificently talented administrator and a highly effective and capable leader who is deeply passionate about academic medicine, our tripartite mission and the exciting course we’ve charted for UC Health and UCMC through our five-year strategic plan” said Kingsbury. “She understands UCMC from top-to-bottom and will provide the critical leadership necessary to continue the transformation of UCMC into an internationally renowned academic medical center.”

Liska will also have system-wide responsibilities for the further integration and coordination of UC Health’s clinical services and will serve on the UC Health Policy Council and chair the health system’s Clinical Operations Council. Liska previously served as UCMC’s chief executive for two years, 2008-2010, a post she assumed when her predecessor, Jim Kingsbury, left UCMC for Dubai. Liska served as Kingsbury’s chief operating officer for nearly four years at UCMC, and he recruited her from Florida where she served as the Chief Operating Officer of the Cleveland Clinic Florida Health System, including its two hospitals and clinics.

“This is a thrill and an honor” said Liska. “My goal is to help Jim and the fabulous leadership team that he’s assembled to realize the full potential of UCMC and UC Health.  As Cincinnati’s only academic medical center, UCMC and its incredibly talented staff are uniquely qualified to solve the most medically complex cases. UCMC has an incredible story to tell, and we want to tell it here and across the entire globe. People have a choice in health care, and they should choose UCMC.”

Liska also had executive roles for both MetroHealth and the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, and most recently served as Chief Operating Officer of Mercy Health, where she had a critical role in Mercy Health’s rapid growth and improvement in key quality and financial metrics.

Liska has a Bachelor’s degree in Communications and an Executive Master’s degree in Business Administration from Cleveland State University. She is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and a member in the Medical Group Management Association. She is involved in a variety of community and civic activities, including the American Heart Association, YWCA, United Way of Greater Cincinnati, Hoxworth Blood Center, the Urban League of Greater Cincinnati, and Xavier University. In 2011, she was named a YWCA Career Woman of Achievement.
