U.S. News & World Report Names Daniel Drake Center a 2019-20 Best Nursing Home

CINCINNATI (Dec. 5, 2019) — Daniel Drake Center for Post-Acute Care is among the 19% of U.S. skilled nursing facilities that have been recognized as a Best Nursing Home for 2019–20 by U.S. News & World Report.

Daniel Drake Center earned Best Nursing Homes status by achieving a rating of “High Performing,” with three out of three stars, the highest possible rating, for short-term rehabilitation care. This recognition was designed specifically to help consumers identify facilities that provide superior skilled nursing or rehabilitation care.

“At Daniel Drake Center, we are committed to superior clinical care with the best outcomes and experience for our patients,” said Lafe Bauer, vice president for post-acute care services and chief administrative officer, Daniel Drake Center. “This U.S. News & World Report recognition is a testament to our dedicated clinicians and staff, who work every day to provide outstanding care to our patients.”

The U.S. News Best Nursing Homes ratings provide comprehensive information about care, safety, health inspections, staffing and more for nearly all of the 15,000-plus healthcare rehabilitation facilities and nursing homes in the U.S. The ratings reflect U.S. News’ exclusive analysis of publicly available data using a methodology that evaluates factors that most greatly impact patient care, safety and outcomes.

“The U.S. News Best Nursing Home ratings hone in on measurements like emergency room visits, quality of staff and proper distribution of medical and physical therapy to help families make an informed decision,” said Kim Castro, editor and chief content officer of U.S. News. “These ratings help individuals and their families begin their search for care and should be used in consultation with a medical professional and in-depth onsite visits.”

U.S. News also expanded the factors included in the short-term rehabilitation rating that assesses the performance of healthcare facilities in the care they provide to patients staying at the facility for fewer than 100 days. The quality measures included in this year’s ratings include consistency of registered nurse and physical therapist staffing, patient experience, patents’ ability to return home, lower ER visits, success in preventing falls and lower use of antipsychotic drugs.
