UC Health Names System Chief Nursing Executive

Beverly Bokovitz will be UC Health’s first system chief nursing executive

CINCINNATI (July 29, 2019)UC Health has named Beverly Bokovitz, DNP, RN, NEA-BC, as the system’s first chief nursing executive. She will continue to serve in her current position as chief nursing officer for University of Cincinnati Medical Center.

As chief nursing executive for UC Health, Bokovitz will be responsible for all nursing practice, both strategic and operational, for the UC Health system.

“Beverly’s commitment and leadership on behalf of our more than 2,700 nurses across UC Health will ensure that nurses are always represented at the system leadership level. I look forward to working alongside her on behalf of the patients we serve,” said Ann Smith, senior vice president of inpatient services for UC Health and interim chief administrative officer for UC Medical Center.

In her current role as vice president of patient care services and chief nursing officer for UC Medical Center, Bokovitz oversees nursing operations for the 756-bed academic medical center and the Cincinnati region’s only Level I trauma center.

More than 2,400 full time employees, including nine direct reports, fall under her leadership and direct oversight. In addition, Bokovitz is responsible for key areas including: emergency services, Level III NICU, air care/mobile care, trauma services, perioperative services, seven inpatient critical care units and 17 inpatient units.

“At UC Health, our nurses practice specialized and subspecialized medicine and are a critical part of our care teams,” Bokovitz said. “It is an honor and privilege to represent nurses from across the system at the system leadership level.”

Bokovitz joined UC Health in April 2018.

Her prior professional experience includes nursing leadership roles at St. Anthony’s Health Care System (St. Louis, MO); Akron General Health System (Akron, OH); NCH Healthcare System (Naples, FL); and, University Hospitals of Cleveland (Cleveland, OH). Board-certified as a Nurse Executive Advanced (NEA-BC), she is also adjunct faculty at both the University of Akron and the University of Cincinnati.

Bokovitz received a Doctorate of Nursing Practice at Waynesburg University, a Master of Science in Nursing at Case Western Reserve University and an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Nursing from Cuyahoga Community College.
