UC Health Surgical Hospital one of 100 in Nation to Receive Summit Award

WEST CHESTER — For the second year in a row, The UC Health Surgical Hospital’s Inpatient Services Unit is a recipient of the 2012 Press Ganey Summit Award, a distinction earned by sustaining consistently high levels of excellence in patient satisfaction.

Press Ganey is the health care industry’s leading performance improvement firm, and the Summit Award is one of Press Ganey’s most prestigious honors. Only 107 health care institutions in the United States and two in the Greater Cincinnati area received the award for patient satisfaction this year.

Each Summit Award winner must achieve and maintain patient satisfaction rankings in the 95th percentile or above by Press Ganey for a minimum of three consecutive years. This year, for the first time, HCAHPS (Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems) criteria was also included as a means by which a client could win a Summit Award. Winning facilities met the criteria established for Press Ganey data, or the criteria established for HCAHPS results.

“We are incredibly honored and proud to be selected as winners of the Summit Award,” says Sara Deem, Director of Operations, UC Health Surgical Hospital. “We have made it our mission to vigilantly monitor our patient satisfaction scores, continually making improvements to our operations as opportunities arise. Combining our dedicated staff with our use of best-practices makes for a winning combination for our patients.”

According to Press Ganey, recipients of the Summit Award set themselves apart from the competition by demonstrating their dedication to improvement and sustaining excellence in both quality of care and patient satisfaction.

Award winners were publicly announced and recognized at Press Ganey’s National Client Conference on Nov. 12-14, in Washington, D.C. Learn more about Press Ganey and the Summit Award by visiting www.pressganey.com/pressGaneyAwards.
