West Chester Hospital Appoints Electrophysiology Director

West Chester Hospital is pleased to announce that Alexandru Costea, MD, has been appointed Medical Director of Electrophysiology Services.

An electrophysiology (EP) test records the electrical activity and pathways of the heart. This test helps determine the cause of heart rhythm disturbance and the best treatment for the patient. During an EP study, a physician will safely reproduce an abnormal heart rhythm and then determine the best medication, procedure or device to treat the problem.

Dr. Costea is an assistant professor of clinical medicine at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, and is also an electrophysiogist and cardiologist with UC Physicians. He received his medical degree from Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy (Bucharest, Romania), and completed an internship in internal medicine at Fundeni Cardiology Institute (Bucharest). He went on to complete an internship, residency and cardiovascular diseases fellowship at the University of Louisville.

Dr. Costea is a member of the American Society of Echocardiology, American College of Physicians and the American Medical Association. He currently lives in Cincinnati.

Electrophysiology is just one of the technologically-advanced heart care services offered at West Chester Hospital. Additional services include diagnostic cardiac catheterization, cadiac stenting and angioplasty, and cardiac imaging and testing. Visit us online for more information about these and other services.
