West Chester Hospital Names Chief Operating Officer

West Chester, OH – West Chester Hospital has named Tom Daskalakis, FACHE, as vice president and chief operating officer. Daskalakis will formally join the West Chester Hospital leadership team early next month and will be responsible for general operations of the organization including the development, implementation, and management of key performance, quality, and growth strategies. Additionally, he will oversee regulatory agency compliance initiatives and manage a wide variety of patient, employee, and physician programs and systems as well as other duties. Daskalakis will be replacing Interim Chief Operating Officer George Caralis and will report to West Chester Hospital President and CEO Kevin Joseph, MD.

Daskalakis is a highly experienced and accomplished healthcare executive who has served in a variety of leadership positions within healthcare institutions in our region and beyond. He most recently served as vice president, business development for Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton where he assumed responsibility for the organization’s growth strategies, physician recruitment/retention initiatives as well as oversight of numerous hospital service lines including the bariatrics, cardiology, women’s health and neuroscience divisions. In this role, Daskalakis served as the institution’s senior representative and facilitated positive community, industry and physician group relations.

Prior to joining Miami Valley Hospital, Mr. Daskalakis served as chief operating officer for Garden City Hospital in Garden City, Michigan. During his tenure with Garden City Hospital, Daskalakis was credited with leading several operational improvement initiatives, which resulted in more than $3.4 million in savings. In addition, he initiated an expansion of the organization’s cardiac catheterization lab, established a hospital-wide monitoring system that provided real time evaluation of labor productivity and lead numerous other initiatives that resulted in new sources of revenue and patient volumes.

Daskalakis’ extensive experience also includes service as network vice president, clinical support services and vice president, clinical services for the Kettering Medical Center Network in Kettering, Ohio. In these positions, Mr. Daskalakis assumed responsibility for developing the organization’s strategic focus, long range planning, financial management and collaboration of the integrated healthcare system, which was comprised of four acute care hospitals.

Daskalakis, a resident of Dayton, Ohio, earned a bachelor of science degree in biology from the University of Cincinnati and a master’s degree in healthcare administration from Xavier University. He is also an American College of Healthcare Executives Fellow and serves as a board member for numerous charitable and civic organizations.

West Chester Hospital is a 160-bed hospital in West Chester, Ohio, providing the latest technology delivered in a healing environment. The hospital is conveniently located and easily accessible from Interstate 75 at Tylersville Road. Services include a full-service emergency department, inpatient and outpatient surgical services, and inpatient and outpatient diagnostic and treatment services.
