West Chester Hospital Opens Ohio’s First Baby Café

Whether you are a brand new mom or an experienced parent, many women are interested in learning more about breastfeeding in an open and supportive environment where they can ask questions and meet other breastfeeding moms. West Chester Hospital is proud to partner with Baby Café USA, an international non-profit organization, to provide support and education for pregnant and breastfeeding mothers.

Baby Café will be offered at West Chester Hospital beginning Wednesday, April 13, from 10 – 11:30 a.m., and will be a weekly event.

West Chester Hospital’s Baby Café – the first in Ohio – is facilitated by a board-certified lactation consultant. Baby Café offers encouragement and education in all aspects of breastfeeding and its impact on daily life.

“West Chester’s partnership with Baby Café will provide unprecedented support for women who have chosen to breastfeed or who would simply like more information before deciding on the best plan for their personal situation,” says Heather Evans, registered nurse and international board-certified lactation consultant for West Chester Hospital.

West Chester Hospital invites all new mothers and their babies to join us for weekly meetings in our attractive and comfortable Family Waiting Room, located on the 3rd floor Maternity Services Unit at West Chester Hospital. The waiting room will be closed to all staff and guests during the Baby Café session so mothers can be assured of privacy and confidentiality while nursing their babies and speaking with the facilitators.

Mothers are welcome to join us at Baby Café every week or for as long as they need breastfeeding support. Some moms come regularly to chat with other breastfeeding moms; others just come when they have a particular question or breastfeeding challenge.

Baby Café Offers:

  • Professional lactation specialists
  • Variety of educational topics discussed
  • Meet other mothers to share tips and socialize
  • Relaxed and fun atmosphere
  • Healthy snacks at every session

Baby Café USA is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization coordinating a network of licensed drop-in U.S. Baby Cafés. All Baby Cafés follow standards set by the organization, collect statistical data, and increase opportunities to reduce health disparities nationwide. www.babycafeusa.org
