UC’s Frank McCormack, MD, was honored for one of the \u201cTop 10\u201d clinical research projects in the country and received a Clinical Research Forum Clinical Research Achievement Award at the forum\u2019s annual meeting and awards dinner April 18, 2012, in Washington, D.C. The award is given to projects that exemplify scientific innovation that results from U.S. investment in clinical research that can benefit human health and welfare.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Michele Leatherbury, 66, says that a year ago, she needed eight to 10 liters of oxygen to exercise or clean her house.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was diagnosed with lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM) in 2002, after my pulmonary doctor in Dayton sent a lung biopsy to the Mayo Clinic,\u201d she says. “A year ago, when I began needing more and more oxygen to complete normal tasks, I called Dr. (Frank) McCormack in Cincinnati. Though I had seen him off and on since my diagnosis, I had never needed so much oxygen.\u201d<\/p>\n
