Hani Kushlaf, MD, is a fellowship-trained neuromuscular neurologist who focuses on the care of patients with neuromuscular disorders. Dr. Kushlaf is uniquely trained in the interpretation of nerve and muscle biopsies and in the performance of peripheral nerve and muscle ultrasound.
Dr. Kushlaf’s primary interests include inherited and acquired peripheral neuropathies, plexopathies, myopathies, muscular dystrophies, ALS, motor neuron disorders, and neuromuscular junction disorders (myasthenia gravis and Lambert-Eaton myasthenic syndrome).
Dr. Kushlaf was born in Oklahoma and graduated Summa Cum Laude from Tripoli Medical University (Formerly Al Fateh) in Tripoli, Libya. He then completed a neurology residency at the University of Kentucky, where he was chief resident from 2008-2009. He continued to subspecialize in neuromuscular medicine, completing three fellowships in muscle disease and peripheral nerve disorders.
Dr. Kushlaf won Resident of the Month Award in 2008 at the University of Kentucky and was recently awarded the Junior Recognition Award by the American Association of Neuromuscular and Electrodiagnostic Medicine. Dr.
Kushlaf is the UC Neuromuscular Medicine fellowship director. He trains fellows
in this subspecialty.
