This phase III trial studies how well single fraction stereotactic radiosurgery works compared with fractionated stereotactic radiosurgery in treating patients with cancer that has spread to the brain from other parts of the body and has been removed by surgery. The primary endpoint of this study will be to measure Surgical bed recurrence-free survival.

Criteria:

To Be Eligible: Must Have Three Or Fewer Unresected Brain Metastases, Unresected Lesions That Measure < 4.0 Cm, Resection Cavity That Measures < 5.0 Cm, No Prior Whole Brain Radiation Therapy, No Primary Germ Cell Tumor, Small Cell Carcinoma, Or Lymphoma
