The goal of this research is to develop methods for forecasting seizures in persons with epilepsy. Building on our extensive experience with hand-held electronic diaries with a daily process approach to data collection, we plan to conduct a prospective observational study utilizing a similar eDiary and incorporating stress and inflammation markers as well as cardiac, sleep and circadian cycle data. We will use the Garmin Venu 3 wrist worn watch and collect saliva samples to test for stress hormones. We anticipate that the results of this study will greatly enhance our understanding of the basis of seizure forecasting, as well as further elucidate the role of stress in seizure occurrence.
