UC Health is proud to offer non-clinical Co-Op and internship opportunities for students looking for real-world experiences within our healthcare system. These roles provide hands-on learning in areas such as IT, business operations, human resources, marketing, and more— giving students valuable exposure to the inner workings of a large, integrated healthcare organization. Students will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals, contribute to meaningful projects, and develop skills that support their long-term career goals.
What is a UC Health Non-Clinical Co-Op?
A Co-Op is a structured academic program that combines classroom learning with extended periods of paid, full-time work experience in a student’s field of study. Co-ops are typically longer in duration than internships—often lasting an entire semester or more—and are usually integrated into a student’s academic schedule. Students alternate between time spent in school and time spent working, allowing them to apply what they learn in real-world settings while earning academic credit in some cases.
What is a UC Health Internship?
An internship is often interim, part-time or project-based work, designed to give students exposure to a specific career field or industry. UC Health Internships may be paid or unpaid and are commonly completed during the summer or alongside a student’s class schedule. While they offer valuable hands-on experience and networking opportunities, internships are generally more flexible and less formally structured than co-ops and may or may not be tied to academic credit.
