Visitor Restrictions

We know your loved ones play a vital role in your care journey. We’re committed to welcoming visitors and helping to create a more healing environment for all.


Masking Requirements

Patients and visitors are not required to wear a mask anywhere on UC Health premises (except Drake Center), and with some exceptions as noted below. You are welcome to ask your provider to wear a mask if you’d like.

Masks are required in the following settings:

  • Those at Drake Center while on patient floors or in outpatient clinical spaces. (Not required for public areas such as cafeteria or gift shop.)
  • In the NICU.
  • In Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) units and clinics.

UC Medical Center

Visitor Hours and Restrictions

  • Adult ICUs: Open to two visitors per patient at a time from noon to 6 p.m. daily. Visitors may swap out.
  • NICU: Two visitors per patient at a time from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily. Visitors may swap out. Parents are permitted to visit 24 hours a day, as long as the two-visitor limit is followed.
  • Emergency Department: Open to one visitor per patient at a time, 24 hours a day. The visitor may swap out.
  • Ridgeway 5 and Ridgeway 6 (Psychiatry): Open to two visitors per patient per day 4–8 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 2–8 p.m. on the weekends.
  • Labor & Delivery, Mother/Baby and High-Risk Antepartum: Open to four visitors at a time. Visitors may swap out. Visitors under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult and must be the child of the patient.
  • Patients receiving end-of-life care: Exceptions made on a case-by-case basis at the discretion of the care team.
  • Patients who may be harmed by not having in-person visits from family at all times (juveniles, special needs, etc.): Exceptions to visitor hours made on a case-by-case basis at the discretion of the care team.
  • Patients with COVID-19 or pending COVID-19 Test: Exceptions can be made on a case-by-case basis in special circumstances at the discretion and agreement of the care team.
  • All other floors/patients not listed above: Open to all visitors from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.

Other Requirements

  • Visitors under the age of 14 should be accompanied by an adult, unless specified otherwise by the care teams.
  • Designated representatives may stay overnight with the patient, with each patient limited to one (1) guest who must be 18 years or older. Overnight visitors are approved at the discretion of the patient and/or the patient's care team. UC Medical Center may limit overnight guests if deemed medically appropriate for patient care. The charge nurse, in collaboration with the unit manager, may approve an exception to this limitation when extenuating circumstances are identified.

Visitor Check-In

  • Check in at the front desk, where visitors will receive a sticker indicating their visitor status. Visitors should keep this sticker visible at all times.
  • Visitors should report to the nurse’s station before entering the patient’s room.
  • Wash their hands (or use hand sanitizer) prior to entering the patient’s room and when leaving.
  • Stay in the patient’s room for the duration of the stay, except when visiting the cafeteria.

Visitors who do not follow these guidelines will be asked to leave the facility.

West Chester Hospital

Visitor Hours and Restrictions

  • All inpatient units: Visitor hours are 24/7.
  • ICU/Stepdown units: Visitor hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Labor & Delivery and Mother/Baby: Open to four visitors at a time. Visitors may swap out. Visitors under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult.

Drake Center

Per the Ohio Department of Health and CDC guidelines, our visitor policy takes into account the various levels of care we provide at Drake Center.

Visitor Hours and Restrictions

  • Open to two visitors per patient per day from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Patients with COVID-19 or recovering from COVID-19: Exceptions can be made on a case-by-case basis in special circumstances at the discretion and agreement of the care team.

Other Requirements

  • Visitors must be at least 16 years of age.
  • All visitors should report to the HUC stations located on each patient floor to be screened for signs and symptoms of COVID-19 prior to entering a patient's room.
  • Any visitor with COVID-19 symptoms will not be permitted to see patients.

Outpatient and Ambulatory Clinics

Visitor Restrictions

  • Two (2) visitors are permitted per patient, with some exceptions:
    • Patients with children are encouraged to safely leave children at home (with supervision) to limit exposure. If this is not possible, children are permitted to attend appointments.
    • This policy may vary for certain areas, including Infusion and Oncology offices. Please check with your provider for the latest information.
