Guide to Medication Access Services

Your Guide to Getting the Medications You Need by Overcoming Insurance, Cost, and traditional Pharmacy Barriers.

What We Do

Medication Access Services (MAS) is a UC Health Pharmacy team that helps patients overcome insurance and cost barriers to getting their medications—whether picked up at a pharmacy or provided by UC Health during care (like an infusion).

We coordinate with insurers for precertification/prior authorization and help eligible patients apply for programs that reduce copays or, in some cases, provide medication at no cost.

How it Works

  1. Benefit check. We review your insurance to confirm coverage and required approvals.
  2. Assistance screening. If your costs are high, we look for copay help through charities or manufacturer programs.
  3. Enrollment support. We complete forms with you, often using secure e‑signatures to speed the process.
  4. Ongoing coordination. We stay in touch with you, your prescriber, and assistance programs until everything is in place.

For Providers

  • Centralized prior auths. We handle insurance workflows for drug coverage so clinics can focus on care.
  • Cost-of-care support. We identify ways to lower patients’ out-of-pocket costs to support adherence.
  • Infusion support. We screen infusion patients for copay assistance and manage program enrollment.
