Syed Ahmad, MD

Dr. Ahmad is the Interim Director of the UC Cancer Center and the Hayden Chair for Cancer Research. He is a nationally recognized leader in oncologic surgery and has published over 300 papers, 40 book chapters, and has edited three textbooks. He has also given over 200 national and international lectures. He has served as the Principal Investigator on four NCI designated cooperative studies (SWOG 1505, Alliance 021101 and 021501, SWOG 2104). These studies have helped define how we manage patients with pancreas cancers. He also co-leads a lab studying kras mutations in pancreas cancer. Dr. Ahmad plays a major role within the Southwest Oncology Group serving on the executive committee and the board of governors. He serves as a reviewer for 15 prestigious journals, is Associate Editor for the Journal of Gastrointestinal Cancers and Deputy Editor for the Annals of Surgical Oncology. He also serves on the ASCO guidelines committee.
