James Coxe, MD

Dr. James Coxe is an otolaryngologist who provides comprehensive adult ear, nose and throat care, offering both medical and surgical treatment for a wide range of conditions. His clinical interests include sinus and allergy disorders, thyroid and parathyroid disease, hearing loss, ear infections, obstructive sleep apnea, tonsil and adenoid conditions, and speech and swallowing disorders. He is dedicated to caring for patients with both straightforward concerns and complex ENT conditions, with a focus on improving overall health and quality of life.

After completing his otolaryngology residency at the University of Cincinnati, Dr. Coxe chose to remain on faculty, allowing him to continue serving the Cincinnati community he has come to know well. He values the opportunity to care for patients and families across all stages of life and enjoys the breadth of ENT as a specialty—one that allows him to address multiple concerns within a single, coordinated care plan.

Dr. Coxe is recognized for his academic and educational achievements, including induction into the Alpha Omega Alpha National Medical Honor Society, a first-place award at his residency’s annual research symposium, and the Chief Resident Excellence in Teaching Award. His recent research interests have focused on sleep surgery, particularly hypoglossal nerve stimulation as a treatment option for patients with obstructive sleep apnea.

What distinguishes Dr. Coxe is his commitment to building genuine, long-term relationships with patients and their care partners. He emphasizes holistic, patient-centered care and believes patients should feel heard, respected and actively involved in developing their treatment plans. He treats a broad range of pathologies and sees patients at multiple locations throughout Cincinnati, with surgical privileges at UC Medical Center and West Chester Hospital.

Dr. Coxe is originally from Raleigh, North Carolina, and was a collegiate tennis player at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He enjoys staying active in his free time, including going to the gym and playing tennis and golf.
