Michael Goodman, MD

Dr. Goodman specializes in general surgery, trauma, and surgical critical care. He trained in general surgery at the University of Cincinnati. After completing a fellowship in surgical critical care at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, he returned to the University of Cincinnati and started a practice in general and acute care surgery with special interests in complex gastrointestinal surgery, enterocutaneous fistulas, hernia repair, and abdominal wall reconstruction. He is certified in surgery by the American Board of Surgery, with Added Qualifications in Surgical Critical Care. Dr. Goodman serves as the Director of General Surgery Research and is pursuing projects in both basic and clinical research, focusing on the relationship of coagulation to post-traumatic inflammation, primarily in the setting of traumatic brain injury. He also serves as the Chair of the UC Health Transfusion Safety Committee and focuses his clinical research on the resuscitation and care of the injured patient. Dr. Goodman is also active in the education of the next generation of surgeons. He serves as the Associate Program Director for both the General Surgery Residency and the Surgical Critical Care Fellowship.
