William HartmannIII, MD

Dr. Hartmann serves as a staff psychiatrist at the Lindner Center of HOPE. He attends to patients at Sibcy House as well as outpatient and adult inpatients and is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychiatry at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. Prior to joining the Lindner Center of HOPE, he worked as Medical Director, Inpatient Psychiatry Services and Education, at Akron General Medical Center, a Cleveland Clinic Affiliate in Akron, Ohio, for 12 years. During this time, he also was in practice with Greater Akron Psychiatry (Partners Physician Group) and the former Center for Akron Psychiatry, Inc. He also held academic appointments as Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED) and Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine, where he helped to train medical students and resident physicians. Dr. Hartmann was recognized as the NEOMED Psychiatry Residency Teacher of the Year 2014-2015 and named an Outstanding Volunteer Faculty at NEOMED in 2013. He has supervised psychiatrists-in-training at all levels in both psychotherapy and pharmacologic treatment in inpatient, emergency department, and outpatient settings. He is a specialist in the treatment of bipolar and depressive disorders, psychosis, and acute exacerbations in the inpatient care setting. Dr. Hartmann has been a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association since 2011 and was President of the Northeast Ohio Psychiatric Physicians Association 2013-2014. He has served on several hospital committees, including as Chair of Psychiatry Quality Improvement for 12 years, and has also been on active medical staff at Summa Health System in Akron. During his training, Dr. Hartmann served as Chief Resident in the NEOMED Psychiatry Residency.
