Dr. Luis F. Lara is the Division Director of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the University of Cincinnati and holds the Robert and Helen Gould Endowed Professorship. He is a nationally recognized leader in pancreatic diseases and advanced endoscopy, specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of complex conditions such as pancreatitis and pancreatic cancer. He has authored more than 100 peer-reviewed publications and has delivered lectures around the world, contributing to the advancement of minimally invasive endoscopic therapies and management of pancreatic diseases.
Dr. Lara has held key leadership roles at several leading health systems, including serving as Director of Endoscopy and the Islet Transplantation Program at The Ohio State University, and leading pancreas programs at Cleveland Clinic Florida, Baylor University Medical Center, and UT Southwestern Medical Center. His research focuses on the progression of pancreatic diseases and advanced treatment options, including total pancreatectomy with islet autotransplantation. He is actively involved in national and international gastroenterology organizations, serving on the Editorial Board of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, the Educational Committee of the American College of Gastroenterology, and the World Gastroenterology Organization.
