Dr. Mahdy is the only double board-certified urologist and urogynecologist in the Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky area. Dr. Mahdy is a professor of urology and is a board-certified urologist who is fellowship-trained in urogynecology and who specializes in urinary incontinence, voiding dysfunction, neurogenic bladder, vaginal prolapse, and genitourinary reconstruction. Dr. Mahdy is the only fellowship-trained urogynecology urologist in the southwest Ohio region with 15 years of experience in the field. He provided urology training to the two local urogynecology fellowship programs in town for the last 13 years. He received his formal fellowship training in female urology, voiding dysfunction, urodynamics, and genitourinary reconstruction at the Cleveland Clinic Florida in 2009. He was granted the “Most Valuable Fellow” award at that time."
Ayman Mahdy, MD, PhD is currently the interim chief of Urology and an Associate Professor of Urology at the Department of Surgery. He is also the Urology medical director and educational site director at the Westchester Hospital. Dr. Mahdy was an Assistant Professor of Urology at the University of Arkansas before he joined the Department of Surgery at the University of Cincinnati in 2011.
Dr. Mahdy has published over 45 peer-reviewed articles, ten book chapters, and over 50 meeting abstracts and videos. He has presented over 40 state-of-the-art lectures to different societies and at different scientific meetings both nationally and internationally. He also participated in several reconstructive surgery missions abroad. Dr. Mahdy was listed in the Cincinnati Magazine as one of the “Cincinnati Top Doctors” since 2013 and for 7 years in a row. He is an active member of several national and international organizations including the American Urological Association, the Society of Urodynamics, Female Pelvic Medicine and Urogenital Reconstruction, The International Urogynecological Association, and others.
Dr. Mahdy has developed extensive experience in new technology and skilled techniques including genitourinary reconstruction, urinary diversion, sling procedures, Holmium Laser Enucleation of the Prostate (HoLEP), Interstim, and the Artificial Urinary Sphincter. Dr. Mahdy accepts both female and male patients. He treats females with disease conditions including pelvic organ prolapse, urinary incontinence, urgency, frequency, voiding difficulties, and urinary fistulas. He also treats male patients with urinary incontinence and prostate-associated voiding dysfunction.
Dr. Mahdy and his dedicated and highly skilled coworker Certified Nurse Practitioner Mrs. Lauren Hunter work closely to ensure superb and timely patient care. She works jointly with Dr. Mahdy and is involved in the entire continuum of care of Dr. Mahdy’s patients in the office, urodynamics lab, and hospital settings. This facilitates patients’ timely access to clinical care, proper evaluation, and post-operative care. This joint team assures the timely return of patients’ calls with concerns or questions.
