Katherine A. Schmidt, MD, FACP, is an assistant professor of medicine in the Division of General Internal Medicine at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. Dr. Schmidt was raised in Xenia, Ohio, and was a primary care physician in the Dayton area before joining UC Health in May 2020.
Dr. Schmidt completed her bachelor’s degree in chemistry in 2009 at Miami University, earning summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa honors. In 2013, she earned her medical degree from the UC College of Medicine and completed her internal medicine residency at UC Medical Center. Dr. Schmidt is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and is a fellow of the American College of Physicians.
In addition to providing primary care at the Hoxworth Internal Medicine Faculty Clinic, Dr. Schmidt teaches residents and medical students in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Her clinical interests include diabetes, hypertension and preventative medicine. She is currently working toward earning her MBA through the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University, with the long-term goal of improving access, quality and cost of healthcare in the U.S.
