Yeshika Sharma specializes in gastroenterology and transplant hepatology. She chose to focus her career in these areas because of the variety of patients and pathology that she encounters. She feels that it is extremely rewarding to take care of sick and complex patients with the goal of getting them a liver transplant.
Dr. Sharma received her medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine, completed her residency training for internal medicine at Washington University in St. Louis and continued her education with a fellowship in gastroenterology and transplant hepatology at the University of Cincinnati.
Dr. Sharma’s current research focuses on cardiovascular outcomes in patients after a liver transplant. She chose this because she feels it is particularly important to decipher and optimize a patient’s cardiac problems prior to transplant to ensure good outcomes and minimize hospitalizations for the patient.
Dr. Sharma likes to get to know her patients well, not only from a medical standpoint, but also personally. Her philosophy on patient care is to provide thorough medical care while giving her patients a chance to be heard.
Outside of work, Dr. Sharma enjoys traveling, cooking, exploring new cities and being outdoors.
