Cristiano Spadaccio, MD

Cristiano Spadaccio, MD, PhD is a highly skilled and extensively trained cardiac surgeon, specializing in aortic surgery, transplant and heart failure surgery, and robotic surgery, with a passion for innovation and patient care. Dr. Spadaccio’s expertise stems from training at prestigious institutions worldwide, including Harvard Medical School and the Mayo Clinic, and at China's world's largest aortic surgery center. This diverse background provides Dr. Spadaccio with a global perspective and a unique ability to offer the latest and most advanced surgical approaches to complex cardiac conditions.

Dr. Spadaccio is a leader in cardiac surgery and is dedicated to continuous innovation and research. He combines conventional surgical techniques with novel technologies derived from clinical research, smart biomaterials, and cutting-edge surgical devices. His focus areas include robotic surgery, alternative minimal access surgery, and regenerative medicine and tissue engineering.

Dr. Spadaccio prioritizes pioneering minimally invasive techniques whenever possible to offer patients faster recovery times and less discomfort. His research in regenerative medicine and tissue engineering explores bioresorbable materials and alternative approaches that eliminate the difficulties and pitfalls of stem cell therapy for the heart.

Dr. Spadaccio utilizes advanced technologies like transcatheter therapies for heart valve replacement, robotic assistance for a variety of heart surgery procedures, and Ex vivo perfusion systems for heart transplantation. He has also developed the first high-fidelity simulation program to train future generations of cardiac surgeons. His dedication to research is further evidenced by his active involvement in clinical trials, and translational research medicine, and he sits in several international committees developing guidelines for best practices in cardiac surgery.

Building strong, collaborative relationships with patients is central to Dr. Spadaccio’s approach. He prioritizes empathy, trust, and transparency, ensuring patients are fully informed and active participants in their care decisions. Dr. Spadaccio is deeply committed to advocating for underserved communities and ensuring everyone has access to high-quality cardiac care.

In his free time, Dr. Spadaccio enjoys playing the bass guitar and listening to jazz music.
