Healing Happens Together

What is the TandemStride?

TandemStride is an initiative that connects trauma survivors and their loved ones with personalized peer support. Through the TandemStride app, individuals can be matched one-on-one with a trauma injury survivor who understands what recovery truly feels like—emotionally, mentally and physically.

How does TandemStride support trauma recovery?

Recovery is more than physical—it’s personal. TandemStride offers:

  • Emotional support from someone who has “been there”
  • Guidance from lived experience

  • A sense of community and connection during recovery

By pairing survivors together, the app helps reduce isolation and builds confidence during the healing journey.

Who can use TandemStride?

TandemStride is designed for:

  • Trauma injury survivors

  • Individuals who feel isolated or overwhelmed during recovery

  • Survivors looking for emotional support from a peer

  • Loved ones or caregivers seeking understanding and guidance

The program is especially helpful for those navigating life after injury or adjusting to long-term recovery.

Is TandemStride medical care or therapy?

It is neither. TandemStride does not replace medical care, mental health treatment, or professional therapy. It is a peer support tool that supports your care at UC Health by addressing the emotional and social aspects of recovery.

How am I matched with another survivor?

After downloading the TandemStride app, users complete a brief profile. The app uses this information to help match you with another trauma survivor who has relevant lived experience and can offer meaningful support.

Is my information private?

Yes. TandemStride is designed to prioritize privacy and safety. Conversations occur within the app, and users control what they choose to share. UC Health does not access individual conversations.

Does TandemStride cost anything?

TandemStride is available at no cost to users through the UC Health partnership.

How does this fit into my care at UC Health?

TandemStride is one more way UC Health supports the whole person—not just the injury. It boosts trauma and recovery care by offering emotional support, connection, and encouragement outside of clinical visits.

How do I get started?

You can get started by:

Healing starts with connection—and you don’t have to walk this path alone.
