Special Care Nursery Visitor Policies

Visitor Policies for the Special Care Nursery at West Chester Hospital, located at 7700 University Dr., Third Floor, West Chester, Ohio 45069.

Parents/guardians are encouraged to visit their infant(s) in the special-care nursery (SCN) during the day and/or night to participate in the care of their infants. Please keep in mind the following guidelines:

  • No more than two (2) visitors per infant at the bedside at any time.
  • Parents/guardians may approve up to four (4) adults to visit without parental presence. All others must be accompanied by the infant’s parent/guardian.
  • Siblings ages 4-13 may visit if immunizations are up to date. During cold and flu season, siblings under the age of 14 are not permitted to visit at any time.
  • Guests must be free from any sign of illness: Signs of illness may include fever, nausea, diarrhea, respiratory drainage, infection, rash and/or open wounds or cold sores.
  • Upon admittance, all visitors will adhere to adequate hand hygiene practices to prevent and control the transmission of disease.

We are unable to allow visitors in the unit during shift changes, which occurs daily from 7-7:30 a.m. and again from 7-7:30 p.m. The unit manager may restrict visitation at any time to protect infants from infectious exposure or as needed to protect patient privacy. We appreciate your cooperation.
