Sep. 10, 2026

Cincinnati, OH - UC Health is excited to announce that its new Celiac Disease Center will open on September 10, offering comprehensive care for people with celiac disease, non-celiac gluten sensitivity, abnormal celiac disease testing, and enteropathies.

UC Health's Celiac Disease Center is the first and only comprehensive center dedicated to treating adults with celiac disease in the region.

"We are excited to bring specialized care for adult patients with Celiac Disease to Cincinnati," said Amanda Cartee, MD, director of Celiac Disease Center.

“The Celiac Disease Center will focus on providing excellent patient care, community engagement and advancing testing and treatments to ensure our patients are living the best, healthiest lives possible.” Amanda Cartee, MD Director, Celiac Disease Center

Celiac disease is a chronic condition in which the body cannot tolerate gluten, which can lead to other serious long-term health issues. UC Health's Celiac Disease Center will help evaluate and provide a diagnosis for people who suspect they may have celiac disease while also providing support for people living with the condition. Patients will have access to a dietitian, family screenings, and monitoring, including vitamin and mineral assessments and bone density testing, to address complications and help them maintain the best possible health and quality of life.

Celiac disease is a lifelong disease that requires ongoing management and monitoring. With many people diagnosed in early childhood, UC Health's Celiac Disease Center is collaborating with Cincinnati Children's to support patients as they transition care from Cincinnati Children's Celiac Disease Center to UC Health as adults.

"Celiac disease is something that impacts people for the rest of their lives after diagnosis, and their symptoms can change, or they can develop health issues later in life," said Dr. Cartee.

“Through our collaboration with Cincinnati Children's Celiac Disease Center, we hope to improve the healthcare transition for teens and young adults with Celiac Disease during a pivotal time in their lives. ” Amanda Cartee, MD Director, Celiac Disease Center

While celiac disease is the primary focus of the center, UC Health also provides comprehensive care for adults with non-celiac gluten sensitivity and non-celiac enteropathies, as well as people with abnormal celiac disease testing or symptoms that may be related to gluten or other digestive conditions.

As part of UC Health, Cincinnati's only adult academic health system, patients will also have access to clinical trial options for treatment. Currently, experts across UC Health are involved in roughly 750 clinical trials to better understand various health conditions and diseases and develop new treatments for patients.

Patients will be seen at UC Health's Montgomery Medical Office at 9275 Montgomery Road, Cincinnati, OH 45242.
