The University of Cincinnati Pulmonary Hypertension Program has once again earned recertification as a Comprehensive Care Center by the Pulmonary Hypertension Association (PHA). The designation recognizes programs that meet rigorous standards for providing comprehensive, multidisciplinary care to patients with pulmonary hypertension.

The University of Cincinnati was one of the first five programs in the nation to receive PHA Comprehensive Care Center accreditation and has maintained continuous certification for more than 10 years. UC Health’s Pulmonary Hypertension Program is the only PHA-accredited Pulmonary Hypertension Care Center treating adults in Cincinnati and one of just two in the state of Ohio, giving patients access to expert evaluation, advanced treatments, and coordinated care.
Pulmonary hypertension is a serious condition where high blood pressure develops in the blood vessels of the lungs, straining the heart and reducing oxygen delivery. The right side of the heart must work harder to move blood through the lungs, which can cause the heart muscle to weaken over time.
As part of Cincinnati’s only adult academic health system, UC Health’s Pulmonary Hypertension Program provides access to leading specialists and advanced treatments for complex medical conditions, including some of the newest treatment options through clinical trials.
