CINCINNATI -  Gregory C. Postel, MD, FACR Appointed to Lead Health System's Board of Directors

UC Health announced today that Gregory C. Postel, MD, FACR, executive vice president for Health Affairs, Christian R. Holmes Professor and dean of the College of Medicine at the University of Cincinnati, has been appointed chair of the UC Health Board of Directors.

With an accomplished career as an academic interventional neuroradiologist, he was recently inducted as a fellow in the American College of Radiology. He also held key leadership roles at the University of Louisville, including interim president, executive vice president for Health Affairs, and chair of Radiology, and was the founding board chair and later CEO of University of Louisville Physicians. Dr. Postel earned his medical degree from Case Western Reserve University and completed his residency at the Cleveland Clinic, followed by a fellowship at the Mayo Clinic. “I am deeply honored to take on the role of chair for the UC Health Board. This opportunity allows me to further contribute to our shared mission of advancing health and wellness, which is intrinsically woven through every aspect of our academic and clinical endeavors,” said Dr. Postel. “My continued service as executive vice president for Health Affairs and Dean of the UC College of Medicine, alongside this new chairmanship, embodies our unified commitment to delivering exceptional patient care, driving innovative research, and educating the next generation of healthcare leaders. I look forward to collaborating with the Board and our dedicated teams as we collectively build upon our strengths and continue to define the future of health for our community and beyond.”

Dr. Postel’s term as chair begins July 1, following the conclusion of Thomas Cassady’s dedicated service as the Board’s leader . Cassady’s transition from the role coincides with his recent retirement as the chief executive officer of the Midwest Region of USI Insurance Services, LLC.

“Tom’s steady hand and bold leadership have propelled UC Health forward, driving better outcomes for our patients and the region,” said Cory Shaw, UC Health president and CEO. “We’re deeply thankful for his service and the lasting mark he’s left on our mission.”

Cassady served as chair of the UC Health Board of Directors since April 2021. Under his tenure, UC Health completed its cutting-edge Clifton Campus Revitalization project, which included the expansion of the campus’s emergency department and the nation’s first flex ICU and opened the University of Cincinnati Cancer Center’s Blood Cancer Healing Center, the most comprehensive center in the nation for blood cancer patients. He will remain as an at-large member on the Board.

UC Health is greater Cincinnati’s only adult academic health system. With over 11,000 team members, it provides primary and specialty care for the region through over 2 million patient visits per year.
